These paintings are about Catching a chord in midair ... Before new notes drown It OUT
I began to study water reflections while accompanying my husband fishing. He would be busy baiting his line and casting For fish…..I would be mesmerized by the way my pole reflected In the water.
I was fascinated by how the dock and boats would transform on the waters surface……. It reminded me of Socrate’s ‘Parable of the Cave’ We interpret the shadows dancing on the walls of our caves made by the images outside as representing their true reality.
To me those distorted reflections become like the sounds in music…..they exist but for a moment.
I began to capture these moments with my camera and enlarge the images with paints on canvas in my studio. I turn a 4”x6” photo into a 4 ft. x 6 ft canvas.
At present the largest image is a double triptych measuring 11 ft wide x 8 ft tall My ambition is to paint my water music images to encompass the walls of an entire room.
